Westdale Real Estate Investment and Management is a private real estate investment firm.  Our primary focus is on office, retail, and multi-family ventures, where we can offer existing stakeholders and lenders a reliable source of capital, new sponsorship, and premier property-level operating capabilities when applicable. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director of Construction to effectively manage a portfolio of apartment communities and office out of Charlotte, North Carolina.


  • Managing and supervising the construction/rehab activity for a portfolio of apartment communities.
  • Obtaining and tracking bids, scheduling work, assuring correct permits are in place, and overseeing contractors/vendors in order to ensure project satisfaction.
  • Assisting and advising onsite Service Supervisors as well as their personnel regarding preventive maintenance, special projects, and safety and loss control issues.
  • Maintaining professional, productive and ethical relationships with contractors, vendors, and employees in order to ensure project satisfaction.
  • Preparing annual capital expenditure budgets as well as conducting on-site inspections and due diligence in a timely manner.
  • Assuring compliance with all city, state and federal safety and environmental laws, codes, standards and regulations across all apartment communities.
  • Exhibiting predictable, regular, and excellent attendance with ability to report to work on time and also be on-call as needed for emergencies.


  • Ability to diagnose, perform, or instruct in the maintenance or repair of systems and processes.
  • Declared expertise in a maintenance related field such as electrical, boiler, carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, or roofing.
  • Very detail oriented with the ability to successfully handle multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and perform duties under pressure in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and time management.
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced environment.
  • Polished professional with exceptional leadership and customer service skills.


  • Must be able to work out of office in Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Minimum three years proven experience in a construction related job activity in a multi-family environment.
  • Previous proven experience as a construction manager over various types of projects in multiple locations across twenty or more apartment communities.
  • Basic computer skills with the following, e-mail, spreadsheets, bid and contract preparation and reporting, and correspondence.
  • Valid NC Driver’s License
  • State-mandated auto liability insurance
  • Reliable personal vehicle
  • Must be available to travel
